A Garden Restoration

A Deer-Resistant Garden Revival

This Franklin Lakes property had been barren for years—cleared not by time, but by an aggressive deer herd that devoured anything that dared to grow. Now retired, the homeowner wanted a lush, welcoming landscape she could finally enjoy without worry. Together, we created a design that brings life back to the home—using over 200 tough, beautiful, and deer-resistant plants. Ilex opaca, ‘Grey Owl’ junipers, Pieris japonica, gold cypress, Carex pensylvanica, ferns, allium, hellebores, agastache, and more now fill the garden with texture, color, and year-round interest. It’s a peaceful retreat built to last—no deer fencing required.
